Seventies concept album
The transformer in the musical is a device that emits radiation that transforms the biology of the body, accelerating youth, reversing sex but then advancing decline.
Each of the Pacific states are strange rural provinces emerging as global traders...similar to Indonesia to California, Phillipines to San Fran, China to Seattle, Oregon to Vladitostok.
See I dont know if that really means accuracy its compelling in essence and comparing Oregan, or Portland, to Vladvostok is funny.
The idea is rural...there is a stronger bully value...
That was an interesting thing about the Cretens or the Minoans with this mural of leaping over the bulls horns.
So, rural can be compared to going back into History.
It might be valuable to suppossed to bring Alexanders Army into today and have it surprise attack a air force base.
The action would be the Greek would quickly adapt, even learning to fly the jets after a few experiments failures ending in one crash, and one bail out.
The icons are kind to visual interpretation.
That point is to say the rural mind is not ineffective, but actually a bit more provincial. An urban sensibility might be closed off at the Coast by a elite rural ancestors.
Out there they started out as islands, virtually. They were supported by shipping and existed as entreports...island fisheries, warehouses, logging, sawmills horses and mules and farm animals, including cats and dogs.
These also exist in island, having a limited environmental impact.
The Herd animals is a different story.
So, the idea that people can be herded...
70's concept rock album, what would it be like? Dark side of the moon, but Court of the Crimson King, which is similar to The King of Elflands Daughter in tone and style, in both over-wrought but not over worked Edwardian phrases.
Paranoid, and many others are Gothic, but these serve more like theater sets than a concept interesting enough to draw action.
So, we look to movies that are so close to really being composed around the music more than any others. Musicals for one catagory, sure, but movies like Koyannisqatsi, The Music Lovers, Purple Rain, Saturday Night Fever, Woodstock...these qualify better than some Musicals.
These approach the idea, perhaps even fulfill the intention better, as Rock stars sought to write more conceptually...Pink Floyd, King Crimson, The Doors (Pagan Dawn), these did not seem to be trying so hard as Tommy or Animals or a considerable amount of work on albums...from many artists over over late 70's, creating concept albums according to a very loose term for concept based in large part on how the music over all is a concept without the consideration of lyrics...so that Another Green World is more like Beethoven's 5th. Holst's The Planets...Operas scores...
These are all similar in that the best Music taken from all these founds a kind of heterogeneous group of Musical forms that yet seem very similar in how much time the music holds its spell, and how well the music tells a up and down dramatic story...its has its own internal complexity, but from the outside it qualifies in several catagories for excellence:
1. Time spent staring and listening...the absolute measure of attention. This varies, but lets guess 20% stable, with a 30% introduction..10% leaving for other things more conventional.
2. Strong movement within the song sequence that suggests a depth of feeling, say, a symphony, with four movements contains eddies and swirls within, but it has a beginning middle and end phrase.
3. The song structure compresses the Symphonic, but also varies somewhat, though, its frequency, such as in Rocky Horror Picture Show, is engaging and not intruding, its has a Jesus Christ Superstar sequence, yet, individuals song could be pop song on the radio.
To some degree there is a gap there, for some have, but most do not. Many songs get passed over in the Pop window, which is severely limited, musical research is necessary but its not a real drag, so you listen to good songs and then read about the genres.
Pick one of each:
1. The Wall Movie for animated musical
2. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for dramatic musical
3. Koyanisqatsi for rhetorical musical
4. The Yellow Submarine for Pop musical
5. Rocky Horror Picture Show
6. Grease
7. Saturday Night Fever
Yet I think this list is flawed. The composure is being made improvisationally when it requires actual listing and review.
The cross index requires perhaps opening a few windows.
Anyway, seventies concept album means this quality.
